10-Yard Fight: One of the Simplest Football games ever!

Genre: Sports

Year Released: 1985

Developed by: IREM

10-Yard Fight is probably one of the simplest football games ever created. It is almost hard to even consider it a real football game. The creator's of Kung-Fu decided to try making a football game for the NES and this is what they came up with. 10-Yard Fight allows you to play a game of football from high school football all the way to the superbowl. Unfortunately, each of the five levels in the game look exactly the same and feature only marginally tougher enemies. You can probably get through the entire game in one sitting.

As far as football games go, this one just falls flat. You can't even make any plays in this game. This is as basic as it gets. You have to run to the other side of the field and make a touchdown with all your players surrounding you and offering protection. The other team has to push past your players and grab you. You have the option to pass or to try and kick a goal, but it is easier to just run every single time. If you just run every turn chances are you won't have a problem. When the opponent has the ball all you have to do is run up and hit the tackle button.

It this sounds like a half-assed game, it gets worse. Each time you beat a stage you get a screen saying "Congratulations, you are on your way to the Super Bowl!" Once you beat the last level (The Super Bowl) you get the same lame ass message. They didn't even bother to make a fucking ending.

If you are looking for a good football game than you will want to look elsewhere. There isn't much of anything here. The one thing that they got right was the music. There isn't any so, they couldn't mess that up.
